Wednesday

Jose - Mortenson Construction

Sophomore

Jose was given the choice to attend the company's annual meeting or go home early and he chose to attend the meeting. This shows Jose's commitment to Mortenson and to learning new things. This is Jose's second year with Mortenson and we have come to depend on him. He has come to know many of the employees in the office and often is able to direct people to finding things. If I could hire him full time, I would.

As part of her my CHI experience preparation, Ana interviewed with Catholic Health Initiatives' CEO Kevin Lofton. We get complements about Ana all the time. We would like to keep her four years!

Friday

Miguel - Baceline Investments

Sophomore

Miguel has gone above and beyond this second semester while working at Baceline. He shows up and immediately gets to work, unprompted, and unnoticed he often completes projects before we realize he even started them. He is a problem solver and hard worker. While sometimes shy, his quiet demeanor is not to be mistaken for the dedication and attention to detail that he demonstrates. He made his biggest impact on our firm while he assisted in the mailing out of our investor tax documents. He prepared letters, printed documents and sent nearly 1000 documents on his own. He is a a true asset to our company and we are grateful to have such a reliable, hardworking, trustworthy student working for us. He has become apart of our Baceline Family and we are grateful for Miguel.

She quickly mastered the complex codes and specific procedures required to enter data correctly, and has consistently been very detail-oriented.

Cynthia had excellent work habits from day one, and she has developed specific skills and competencies since joining our team. This has given us a very high degree of confidence and trust in the work she performs, and has enabled her to make real contributions to maintaining the quality of data used at all levels of the BLM to manage public lands.

Cynthia's bright and cheerful attitude helps create and maintain a positive working environment. She is willing to learn and always eager to help out and get the tasks that are assigned to her done. It is a joy to have her on the team.

Tuesday

Aluel - McConnell Fleischner Houghtaling, LLC

Senior

McConnell Fleischner Houghtaling, LLC would like to recognize Aluel and nominate her for Employee of the Month. First and foremost, we were very excited when Aluel joined our team here at MFH for her Senior Year, especially after discovering her interest in the area of Law. We know, all too well, the challenges and difficulties of working within a law firm. We have been able to witness Aluel’s growth over the past months of adapting to the environment here, increasing her work-knowledge, and taking initiative to further her job-skills. In the past few months we have seen how Aluel’s communication skills and how she conducts herself in a professional manner (just to name a few) have vastly improved.

Aluel continues to accept challenges and tasks assigned to her, and she always seems to excel at everything we give to her. Aluel’s initiative to seek out new and different projects and her ability to complete those projects has also improved at a rate that deserves recognition. Aluel continues to build knowledge of work-related skills in her Senior year with us, and it is noticeably obvious she continues to increase upon that foundation and add even more value to her work ethic both as an individual and as a part of our team here at MFH. The amount of growth we have seen from Aluel, both as an individual and as a colleague, has been a pleasure to witness in such a short amount of time. Please let it be known that we value and enjoy Aluel’s time with us. We believe she should be recognized by her peers and fellow students for coming such a long way in such a short amount of time. Aluel’s confidence continues to grow while working at MFH and we have no doubt that good fortune and success abound for her future.

Luis has been with Regis University since August 2015 and has demonstrated time and time again that he has a strong work ethic and attention to detail. This was never more evident than this past month when Luis was one the only work-study in for the Admission Department as the Regis Students were on spring break. Luis was charged with multiple assignments and task during that week. One such assignment was a lengthy spreadsheet to check our database to confirm student deposits had been applied. Luis worked tirelessly on the project and was able to complete most of it before his day was finished, which in turn allowed us to find the issues and resolve them in a quick and efficient manner. Luis has been a true asset to the Admission Department, and we are very thankful to have him on our team.

Wednesday

Kevin Bailon - CO DNR State Land Board

Junior

The State Land Board would like to nominate Kevin for employee of the month. Kevin has gone above and beyond expectations in regards to his work projects. He has been willing to take on several large projects and has been conscientious and enthusiastic on each one. Several of these projects are very intensive in terms of process - he has quickly learned and, in some instances, suggested more efficient ways of completing tasks. The questions he asks show his attention to detail and determination to fix problems as he comes across them. He has identified several issues for us with his work that have helped us become aware of quirks in our system that are now impacting multiple lines of business and has worked with us to come up with a plan to address them. His diligent work has drastically impacted our backlog - just on one project he has digitized and attached over 300 inspections in our system! In addition to his great work ethic, Kevin is such a pleasant individual to work with. He has a great sense of humor and demonstrates a willingness to help others that make him a great teammate. We have enjoyed getting to know him this year with his interests in cars and basketball and watching him succeed in his academic pursuits.

Wednesday

Jesus - CO DNR Reclamation Mining & Safety

Junior

Employees like Jesus is the very reason organizations create the concept of "Employee of the Month". Accurate, punctual, attentive to detail, consistent, friendly and reliable are just a few words/terms I could use to describe Jesus. Oftentimes, he goes the extra mile with the tools and processes he's learned here in the office, making my job a great deal easier. He was instrumental in our office reorganization by sorting maps, researching publications and archiving old documents. As a relief receptionist, everything from his appearance to his demeanor spells "professionalism." He is courteous, friendly, with great customer service which is a complement to our program that he is the first person our customers meet. And just like every good receptionist, he uses his time to help complete various administrative tasks requested by other staff members. Jesus alternates between our Coal and Minerals programs, but always finds the time to greet and converse with the staff of all our programs. Jesus has performed so "above-and-beyond" the call of duty since arriving, it is imperative that he is recognized for his awesome work.

Wednesday

Martin - U.S. Forest Service

Junior

The Rocky Mountain Region recently held a conference in Fort Collins, CO for recreation and lands personnel from 11 National Forests across 4 states. This required a lot of coordination and "behind the scenes" work. Over 100 people participated over a three day period during the first week of March. Martin did many supportive tasks like making e-mail contact lists, creating a design for name tags, creating the name tags, preparing attendance lists, printing documents for attendees, organizing information folders for attendees and other important support functions. Although Martin did not attend the conference, his presence was felt throughout the three days through the support work that he did in helping us prepare for the conference.

He always takes the extra steps in order to complete a project wholly. He performs his assigned tasks quickly and accurately with proficiency. He is willing and open to learning new skills and tackle new projects. Since the beginning of the school year Alan has been helping our billing department monthly with a very tedious Excel Spreadsheet project. This is a very important project, but very time consuming. Alan has maintained a positive attitude and works diligently to ensure that the project is done correctly and accurately, which we greatly appreciate. Alan stays busy with work projects, and if he is completed his assignment will seek new projects. Alan has an ideal work ethic and is a joy to have in our office once a week.

Tuesday

Matt - Innovest Portfolio Solutions LLC

Senior

I would like to nominate Matt. Our office manager is out this week and Matt walked in like a ROCK STAR the last two days. He sat up front at our receptionist desk, handled phone calls, greeting clients, mail delivery, keeping the kitchen stocked with coffee (always important) and managed to post to our blog, analyze articles and help distribute quarterly reports. Matt always has a smile on his face, a great attitude and a willingness to learn. He says he may want to pursue financial services once he graduates from Arrupe. I don't know what we would have done without him this week.

Thursday

Leonardo - City of Arvada - City Attorney Office

Junior

Leo has been an excellent addition to our staff. Leo is pleasant, professional, willing to take on any task and exceeds our expectations time and time again. A few examples of Leo's superior work include:

Leo is a hard worker, he gets projects done the right way the first time, he is very pleasant to be around, and is stylish in his clothes and also very professional in his demeanor.

One of Leo's first assignments was to replace and update each attorney's set of Colorado Revised Statute publications. Leo was able to get this accomplished promptly and accurately.

Leo put together a research project on police speeding/high speed chases for our litigator, Mr. Ramirez. Mr. Ramirez said that "Leo did a really great job" on the project.

Leo prepares LOVID sheets on municipal court prosecution files for the prosecutors. He also assists the prosecutors in court, when his schedule allows for him to be away from his desk.

Leo took care of the holiday decorating for the City Attorney's Office as well as taking down the decorations at the end of the holiday season.

Leo is a huge help to his co-workers by quickly answering the phones (typically on the first ring).

These are just a handful of reasons I believe Leo is deserving of being recognized as the Employee of the Month.

Thursday

Israel - OpenWorld Learning

Freshman

Israel is professional and friendly to our employees and to any one that comes to our building. We are always confident that Israel will answer the door and treat any guest or client to our building respectfully while helping the guest with their needs.

Israel arrives in the morning ready to work. He remains cheerful and helpful the entire time he is here working. When we ask him to complete any task, Israel is always cheerful and takes any task seriously. Not only is Israel intelligent and a quick learner, he completes all tasks given to him and does a good job. If Israel has any questions, he asks and always incorporates the changes into his work efficiently. Regardless if the task is simple or complex, Israel always gives his best effort. Israel is self-motivated. If he does not have any current tasks, he is comfortable asking for things to keep busy.

I’d like to share a specific story that illustrates how Israel has gone above and beyond his responsibilities here at OpenWorld Learning. We had a new copier/printer installed and the scanning feature was not working correctly. Israel got on the phone with a technician from the printer company and worked through the problem. The technician and Israel worked together and Israel was able to resolve the scanning issue. I was impressed with Israel’s commitment to solving the problem for us. I was further impressed by how well Israel worked with a technical representative from a different company. I am fully confident that Israel professionally represents OpenWorld Learning in any interactions with others.

Israel’s unique mix of skills combined with his work ethic make him an excellent employee and a joy to have in our office.
