Tuesday
Jasmine - The Urology Center of Colorado
Senior
Jasmine has demonstrated rapid growth in responsibility and critical thinking. This year, her senior year, even faced with significant health issues she continues to steadfastly move ahead. Jasmine demonstrated reliability and skills with problem solving and her confidence to express her ideas. Great Job!

Tuesday
Alan - DAO Architects
Senior

Alan is an incredibly fast learner - he has picked up software such as Sketchup and Revit very quickly. He has worked on a design project with minimal supervision and consistently performs on a high level. He constantly goes above and beyond in all aspects of his work here, and we know that this carries over to his schooling due to his acceptance to University of Colorado Denver, and the potential for "full ride" scholarship at another university. Alan always has an incredibly positive attitude - a big smile on his face - and the office is a happier place when he is here. The future is very bright for this young man, we know he will succeed at anything he attempts.

Tuesday
Citlalith- Jones & Keller
Senior

Although she is a second-year student with us her work ethic has not diminished. She is always eager for more work and every assignment that is given to her she goes above and beyond, producing quality work and doing more than was asked of her about any of the tasks she is assigned. She now has a confidence to her we did not see before, she greets clients with respect and has always kept an upbeat and pleasant demeanor around the office. We love having her around the office and will miss her very much next year.

Tuesday
Daniel - MWH Now Part of Stantec
Senior

Daniel has worked really hard all year. He uses lot of ingenuity and creativity in all the tasks he works on. He strives to work smarter not harder. Daniel is friendly, professional and funny. We have appreciated Daniel's efforts this year and wish him all the best as he moves on from high school next year!

Wednesday
Jessica - UCH Eye Center
Junior

I would like to nominate Jessica for the Arrupe Corporate Work Study Program Student of the Month. Due to reorganization in our department structure, Jessica was reassigned to a new supervisor mid-year. This resulted in a significant shift in her responsibilities and reporting structure. Prior to the realignment Jessica worked primarily in the medical records department. Although her responsibilities were varied, she had very little interaction with our employees and had no direct patient contact. Her new responsibilities expose her to several different areas within the UCHealth Eye Center. She is now working in multiple sub specialties and has direct contact with our employees, patients and physicians. Jessica handled this transition with a positive attitude toward her new work responsibilities, new co-workers, and our patients. Some of her new responsibilities include the following.

  • Room Sweeps: This entails walking through all of our patient reception areas and checking in with each patient to make certain they have not been waiting too long. She also carries as basket of snacks that she offers to our patients.
  • MDValuate Survey Project: As our patients complete their visit with the doctor, Jessica helps them fill out an electronic patient satisfaction survey. Some of our patients have difficulty seeing the tablet so Jessica reads the questions and submits the information for those patients.
  • First Floor Greeter: Jessica has also trained with our front desk greeter to help direct our patients to the appropriate floors and clinics.
  • Mail Distribution: As a multispecialty practice in a 4 story building, we receive a wide variety of a mail for each subspecialty. Jessica is being trained on the appropriate distribution of each document.
  • Designed New Patient Consent Forms: Our Ophthalmic Supervisor identified a need to update one of our forms and Jessica took on the project with enthusiasm. Using her computer skills and creativity, she was able to redesign the document.

Jessica transitioned from working in the Medical Records room with one other person to rotating to all of our clinics and interacting with 50-75 people a shift. She is very versatile and quickly adapts to whatever task she is assigned. She arrives for her shift with a smile on her face and willingness to “jump in” and begin her responsibilities for the day. Her commitment to quality is evident by the way she approaches her tasks and suggests new ideas to her supervisor. Jessica’s confidence and skill set have grown tremendously over the last year and we are all very proud of her. For all of these reasons I believe that Jessica should be considered for the Arrupe Corporate Work Study Program Student of the Month.

Wednesday
Yvett - Cornerstone Orthopedics & Sports Medicine
Junior

Yvett is always willing to do special tasks she will ask for anything we have so that she is always busy. I can show her one time on how to do something and she just goes with it! She is always looking for work and I appreciate that from her. She helps in so many areas in the billing department and I just think she is great! She deserves recognition for her hard work!!

Wednesday
Gissel - Overturf McGath & Hull
Junior

Gissel has surpassed every expectation that we had of her for this school year. Her willingness to help in any situation has been exceptional! She has continued her positive attitude even on slow days that were full of mundane tasks. Her enthusiasm to learn and start new projects for our firm does not go unappreciated!  She follows up on all projects that she is given and is not afraid to ask questions or check on the outcome of her assignments. Her ability to do this at her age shows a great maturity! Having her in our office has been such a pleasure. Because of this and so much more we believe that she is the perfect candidate for employee of the month!

Wednesday
Juan - United Airlines
Sophomore

Initially, Juan was very reserved. Since then he has opened up and now freely expresses his thoughts. Juan has learned how to reconfigure iPads for our pilots who are either transitioning from one aircraft type to another or are newly hired to our company. He has shared that while he enjoys doing this work, he realizes that he has a preference to be physically active at work. He has worked in our mailroom delivering packages and has assisted in helping us physically move from one location to another. Most importantly he has a positive attitude. During slower time periods, he takes the initiative to ask what else can be done and what additional work he can do. At the end of the day, he is able to articulate what work he has done and what he enjoyed or learned each day. I recently asked, "how was your day"? and his reply was "AMAZING!" This great attitude coupled with the fact that he is very respectful towards others and takes initiative to find work makes him worthy of this nomination!

Wednesday
Anthony - Kiewit Companies
Sophomore

Kiewit is very fortunate to have Tony as one of our interns this year. His work ethic, willingness to learn, and enthusiasm show a maturity beyond his years. He has proven himself to be a diligent and efficient part of the team. To that point several departments have requested he be assigned to work with them whenever he is available. Below is some of the feedback I’ve received regarding Tony:

  • “His enthusiasm for the tough construction industry is refreshing and encouraging. Tony is always ready to dig into any task assigned to him. Tony has been assisting us with day to day items in our industry including preparation of documents, reviewing drawings, and attending various meetings that are standard in our industry.”
  • “Tony continually looks for ways to help out. If there isn’t a project assigned, he will find something that needs to be done and simply do it.”
  • “Tony always has a smile on his face and a helping hand to anyone in the office. We hope that he will continue his pursuit in the construction industry since his enthusiasm, knowledge and thirst for knowledge is above par.”

Thursday

Ashley has been a joy to work with the past 2 years. She is enthusiastic, responsible, and has a wonderful work ethic. When she is here we never worry about things being done right or keeping her on task. Ashley starts her tasks timely and completes them fully with accuracy and attention to details, which at many times can be very challenging in our field. She is not afraid to learn new things, ask lots of questions and help out fellow students. We appreciate her mentor-ship to her fellow Arrupe classmates and her can do attitude. She takes initiative to stay busy and finds additional projects to work on without having to be asked. She always comes in smiling and engages with everyone in the office. Her smile is contagious and we love having her here!

Thursday
John - Comcast Spotlight

John was given a special project and completed it with accuracy and a strong sense of urgency. He even picked up the piece for a fellow student that was out the previous day. He is truly one of a kind and I’m extremely happy with all that he does to help our organization succeed. With his attitude and commitment there is no limit for his success. Great Job, John!

Tuesday
Adriana - Bryan Cave
Senior

Adriana is truly a superstar. She has seamlessly blended in with our team this year. She “gets” how the workflow should move, she anticipates what people need before they ask, and she takes the initiative to grab job requests from attorneys without any need for instruction. She has been an incredible help to us, especially on those extra busy days, and I so appreciate the fact that I can count on her to help us get through them which is an immense benefit. She is truly a member of the Team from the moment she arrives until she leaves for the day. She picks up on all phases of the job very quickly and retains what she has learned for the next opportunity. She works efficiently and accurately. She always has a smile on her face and an eagerness to learn and do the best job she can. I appreciate all of her hard work this year.

Jenny is an asset to our company. She is extremely detail oriented, diligent, and can apply concepts from project to project. She is always so willing to help with anything that we need and has such a great attitude and personality. We enjoy working with her!

Thursday
Lesly - Kaiser Permanente
Junior

I wholeheartedly nominate Lesly for Employee of the Month. Lesly is professional, timely, polite, respectful and demonstrates patient centered care, which is the central to the work we do at Kaiser Permanente. She is detailed oriented and does her best to help our members when they are checking in for appointments or have other questions or concerns. She responds positively to feedback and makes sure to incorporate feedback and new learnings into her daily duties and interactions. When presented with a new task, she listens carefully and asks clarifying questions to ensure she understands what is being asked of her. She is flexible, often being asked to cover different medical reception desks in my departments. She is an asset to our company and a pleasure to work with.

Thursday
Heriberto - U.S. Forest Service
Freshman

"Harry" has been of immense help to me and the regional program I manage in the federal government. As we prepare for a move of our regional office in April, he has been working diligently throughout the 2016-17 school year to help me prepare and convert almost 4 decades of hard copy program materials to electronic format. These are records that cannot make the move in hard copy form due to limited storage space in the new building. Instead they will need to be transferred to a federal records center and eventually the national archives. This project was important to me in preserving the program's legacy and ongoing access to these materials for myself and my successors well into the future. Over the past few months bit-by-bit, Harry has helped organize, prepare and scan almost 10,000 records! Through his admirable work ethic and attitude, he has helped me achieve what looked in the beginning to be an almost insurmountable task. I am absolutely thrilled to see the project come to fruition and could not have done it without Harry's dedication and persistence. I have also enjoyed getting to know Harry a little better as we occasionally discussed how school and sports were going, or some of his future aspirations. He is a fine young man that I would gladly nominate for student of the year if I could.

Friday
Diana - Traemand
Sophomore

Diana goes above and beyond every day she is with Traemand. She is intelligent, has incredible instruction recall and always manages to keep us looking for more work for her to complete. Diana exceeds our staff's expectations by always finishing her work to near perfection. For a sophomore, she shows many characteristics of a professional entry-level employee. We're so happy to have her working with us and on "Diana Days" there are often several people asking for her to complete their projects first.

Congratulations - February
Employee of the Month Winners

Tuesday
Alex - J.R. Butler, Inc.
Senior

I would like to nominate Alex as "Student of the Month." As with all three of the regular Arrupe Interns that work at the JR Butler manufacturing facility, Alex is prompt, professional, and courteous. He always shows up to work with a smile on his face, and is quick to get busy working and stay busy working. He has never been late, he stays until the work is complete, and he is happy to go the extra mile for us. Alex is a hard working young man who is a real pleasure to work with!

Tuesday
Patrick - St. Francis Center
Senior

Recently, Patrick was volunteering while the Catholic Worker Soup Kitchen was going on. It is very important to us that our volunteers do not try to diffuse conflict. Patrick saw that conflict was happening and very appropriately brought it to the attention of staff. Because of Patrick, a conflict was addressed and the problem did not blow up. Patrick knew the situation was not right and took the correct steps to handle it. Patrick has really matured and grown into his own since September. I know a shelter for people experiencing homelessness is not as glamorous as some other placements but we surely are grateful for him.

Thursday
Citlalli - Mercy Housing
Junior

I am writing this letter of recommendation for Citlalli to be nominated for employee of the month. Citlalli is polite, respectful and very professional. She works well and needs little, if any supervision. She has been with us for three years and has worked in Development, Accounting and Human Resources. This year she is working in the Environment Sustainability Department. I placed her in this department because the department needed someone that was a quick learner and good with details. Her job is to take data from utility invoices for the properties and put into a spreadsheet. She also covers the front desk and the phones for me during my breaks. This past summer we hired Citlalli for two weeks to help me out with some small projects that needed to get done. I ended up being out of the office for those two weeks due to a family emergency and she stepped up to the plate and did my job. I want to say that Citlalli has matured into a young woman from the Freshman I met three years ago.

Friday
Alma - Guaranty Bank & Trust
Sophomore

Alma has shown responsibility and attention to detail. She came to our Department at a time of change and has helped us with filing, insurance, scanning and data entry into our Core system. She recently spent 3 days here and kept focused the whole time with several duties.  She takes the initiative to make sure a level of perfection in each task is taken, especially important since we have a security level for ensuring things are correct with federal regulations. The amount of detail and focus she takes upon herself is something people cannot teach. Every day she is here we never have an issue of her slacking off or being off task. She works so efficiently and quickly that we are having to look for additional things she can assist with. She is a top employee here in the department and is a key asset for the team.

Friday
Karina - Colorado DNR - Reclamation Mining & Safety
Sophomore

An honor, such as Student Employee of the Month is long overdue for Karina. She’s really a hero here. We’ve become so comfortable with her performance here, we have to often step back and understand Karina is a student worker here and not an actual employee. She does so well unsupervised, that we’ve been spoiled by her dedication to and knowledge of our program. We did not hire her during a formal interview process, though her work constantly suggests this very thing. Whether it as our relief receptionist, scanner, data entry clerk or whatever sporadic task she’s assigned, Karina honestly has never, ever let us down the two years she’s been with us. Student/Employee of the Month is not only very necessary for Karina, it’s long overdue.

It gives me great pleasure to recommend Karina for Employee of the Month. Karina has been a wonderful addition to our staff for the last two years. As a relief receptionist, she is often the first person our customers meet and her professional and courteous customer service is a complement to our program. Karina’s skill set of a strong work ethic, self-motivation and attention to detail were instrumental in completing a large, independent research project. Karina successfully researched plant seed prices on several hundred plant species. These seed prices were entered in a database used to calculate reclamation cost estimates that can be worth several million dollars. Karina continues to be an outstanding performer and should be recognized for her skills and awesome work.

Congratulations - January
Employee of the Month Winners

Tuesday
Lucy - Black Creek Capital
Senior

Lucy has become an integral part of our front desk team. She is dependable and hard working and excels in every task she undertakes. During the holidays, she filled in for one of the receptionists who was out on vacation and did an outstanding job. She keeps our office supplies in check and helps with special projects. Everyone likes her because she is efficient and kind.

Wednesday
Juan - U.S. Mint
Junior

I would like to recognize Juan's efforts in preparing the Mint’s Mint Condition newsletter. When Juan expressed an interest in helping with the newsletter, I had no idea what to expect. Knowing what a challenge the newsletter can be for my more experienced employees, I gave Juan a few guidelines and told him to be creative! I was so surprised when he delivered an excellent newsletter including pictures and graphics. As I edited the newsletter, I noticed only minor grammatical and formatting edits were needed.

I let Juan know what an excellent job he did on the newsletter and how impressed I was with his hard work. In addition, Juan proactively came to me last week inquiring about stories to put in the next newsletter. Juan continues to impress me with his positive attitude and strong work ethic. He keeps me on my toes in a positive way and I admire his eagerness to always take on additional challenges. Juan is an incredible asset to our team and his hard work should be recognized and acknowledged.

Thursday
Samantha - Colorado Nonprofit Association
Junior

The last two times Sam was in we've given her some hefty and important projects that required a lot of work in our database. They were time sensitive - we needed the work done quickly and accurately and Sam did both. What we thought would take her two days took her six hours. What we thought might be confusing and hard - she handled with grace and ease. We feel confident with every task we give her that she will be as detailed and thoughtful as we need her to be.

Friday
Mario - MWH
Sophomore

We want to recognize Mario for the hard work he put in working over the holiday break. He was only planning to work for one of the weeks but ended up working all but 2 days of his time off from school. He was invaluable during that time as many people are on vacation and he was able to help cover many mail, facility and phone coverage duties for those that were out. He also worked on a rather tedious scanning project; and his help in getting that done has been great. And through it all he exudes professionalism and is polite and courteous..ALL THE TIME. We love having Mario here as one of our Arrupe interns.

Friday
Isabel - Marrick Medical
Freshman

Isabel comes in ready to work and conquer any task that may be asked of her! She is friendly to all associates, enjoys being busy, puts her head down and works hard. She is self-sufficient and pleasant to be around. We love having Isabel here at Marrick Medical.

Congratulations - November
Employee of the Month Winners

Wednesday
Lizbeth - Bureau of Land Management
Sophomore

Lizbeth has been very beneficial to this organization by helping us organize and prepare over 30 square feet (well over 7,500 files) of official records for shipment to the Federal Records Center for long-term storage. Organizing the files, creating spreadsheets (inventories) that identify the documents, and completing the final steps before shipment will allow BLM to properly handle these important documents. Further, her ability and willingness to help in other areas for scanning of documents, organizing our map sales area, and basically anything I ask her to do is remarkable. Lizbeth's positive attitude and ability to assist in any aspect of the position will serve her well in meeting her life goals. Lizbeth is very deserving of this Employee of the Month recognition!

Thursday
Darian - Mile High Ministries
Freshman

Darian has been incredible. He has taken on every task with care and efficiency. He is always willing to learn and he is a great presence in our office and an asset to our weekly work flow. Darian has exceeded my expectations by completing every task given him without needing much guidance or assistance - he leaves our office better than he found it and takes a big weight off of staff by finishing everything we give to him with excellence. Darian is very mature and hardworking and we all look forward to the great things he will contribute to this world.

Thursday
Josephine - U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
Sophomore

I would like to nominate Josephine for the Employee of the Month award for her continued employee excellence. Josephine continues to excel in every aspect of her work. She works independently, often bringing new and innovative solutions to problems to improve product utility and efficiency. Josephine routinely goes above and beyond in completing her assignments, adding helpful details to conference books, and voluntarily initiating and completing of a companion "how to" reference book for her Arrupe colleagues. Josephine's self-direction and initiative make her a valuable asset to our team and we are grateful to have her.

Friday
Eilene- The Catholic Foundation
Freshman

Eilene has been a team player, hard worker and has been outstanding for our many ministries. She has helped our Executive Department and Corporate Development as well as The Catholic Foundation and Foundation Alliance. She is very polite, professional, smart and is always ready to work. She learns quickly and asks good questions. She has helped our team's workflow with the following:

  • The front receptionist duties by answering and transferring phones, greeting guests, and main contact for The Catholic Foundation / Catholic Alliance.
  • Helped orchestrate large mailings for Christmas cards, events, and Archbishop Catholic Appeal
  • Helped with set up of events (in house)
  • Made name tags for large events
  • Completed various mailings
  • Very professional
  • Keeps filing current – which is amazing considering the volume and the fact that she is only here five days a month
The first thing we noticed about Eilene was her confidence to jump in and learn, it has created an opening for her to take ownership of duties that are on-going and hers to accomplish when she is here in the office. Her willingness to learn new things and evaluate them is an asset for a freshman new in the workforce. Eilene has an exceptional "can do" attitude and is always willing to help with any task that she is asked to do.

Cinthia is a quick learner, works efficiently and independently very well.

Wednesday
Estefani - Catholic Health Initiatives
Sophomore
I wanted to nominate Estefani as student of the month. She is so bright and continues to impress me.  Every week I feel grateful to have such a bright, sweet and motivated student, I even did her review myself which is a big step for me (I hate giving bad feedback, but this year I had none). She constantly keeps herself busy, even suggesting tasks she can do for me that I wouldn’t even think of. A real go-getter!  Today in particular I feel thankful, we were going through the communication project questions and got to a question that was “I will never do_____.” I personally felt like the answer could go a lot of ways but her answer was so sweet, she said “I would never not listen to what my parents tell me,” it almost broke my heart because so many kids her age have little respect for their elders and would never think of uttering such words. It just shows how mature she is and also how caring, especially when my answer was “I will never eat a ghost pepper again.” Thank you for giving us the opportunity to mentor such great people, it truly is a privilege.

Thursday
Ricardo - Mike Naughton Ford
Freshman
SUCH A WONDERFUL PERSONALITY AND WORK ETHIC. ALWAYS HELPFUL!

Friday
Liz - Colorado Department of Natural Resources
Sophomore
I would sincerely like to see Liz recognized for the hard work she has done for the Land Board. The Resource Extraction department manages the greatest volume of lease files within the Denver Office (2000), yes 2000!. These files are part of a digitization project to be completed by 2017. Liz has been a great addition to the team and understands her role and is committed to help accomplish the team’s goals. She fully understands processing protocols and pays attention to detail when handling many types of files with many variables. When a tedious task is assigned she completes it energetically and returns quality files for permanent storage. Overall, she is comfortable communicating with our team, but can benefit if she reaches out to other staff members should the opportunity arise. She is highly productive; an asset that adds value to the goal at hand. She is a team player and contributes her skills and talents to the team. She has done a wonderful job this quarter and I look forward to working with her to strengthen her communication skills.

Tuesday
Veronica - Baceline Investments
Senior
Veronica is an outstanding employee for many reasons, she always has a smile on her face, she is polite, willing to chat and open up about her life, and always has done her work well and in a timely manner. I am always happy to see her sitting behind the desk. I am submitting this nomination specifically because she is currently helping me complete a large project involving calling all utility companies on our properties and inquiring about rate increases. Not only does she exhibit excellent customer service and an aptitude for talking with people, she designed and updated her own spreadsheet that was clear and gave all pertinent information. This was a project that people originally did not want to give to a student, thinking it may be too much, too hard or too overwhelming. I had faith in V -- and she went way above and beyond even my own expectations. She is exemplary and I am lucky to have the chance to work with her here at Baceline. I cannot wait to see the great things she achieves in life. I hope that you consider her for this award, as I feel she greatly deserves the recognition. Thank you!

Thursday
Jason - Eagle Automation
Freshman
Jason is committed to detail! There was a significant backlog of documents that needed to be attached to the corresponding invoices in our system. This backup is important, we need to be able to reference it to ensure we are paid by our customers if they have questions regarding our billing. Jason swiftly and accurately scanned and attached the documents to the appropriate invoice. This is a great help! He has a positive attitude and quickly picked up our system. I personally appreciate his willingness to ask questions, his professional demeanor, and the confidence he displays when working on tasks. He is a great asset to our team and we are glad he came aboard.
